S.A’s next top film maker competition 2011

Entries for SA’s Next Top Filmmaker 2011 close on the 30 June 2011 at five o clock. They’ve really got off to a roaring start with a positive deluge of entries and a very well attended workshop held at AFDA on 4 June 2011.

Guest speakers include Brent Quinn, head writer of Intersexions with his protégée Zee Ntuli, Brett Lotriet Best, acclaimed director of such hits as Show Me The Mommy, High School Musical and SA’s Biggest Loser and John Trengrove, director of the much admired Hopeville movie.

Attendees were given some important tips and advice on the subject of scriptwriting, putting together a treatment and creating a shotlist. The guest speakers were most generous with their time and expertise and happily answered questions and dispensed advice. If you missed it the videos of the workshop are up on our facebook page for those who would like to see what was discussed.

Entry forms and more information can be found here.

Winners will receive a one-year internship at Curious Pictures in Auckland Park as well as exposure to the industry at large.

Entrants may enter individually or in teams of two and will be required to submit a script, treatment, storyboard and/or shot list for a 3 minute film.

The top five entries will get the opportunity to produce their film under the mentorship of the Curious Pictures team. Camera, lighting and sound equipment will be sponsored by Digitalfilm.

The offline edits will be done at General Post and Aces Up and the online at The Bladeworks in Bryanston. Final mix for the five finalists will be sponsored by Warren Birley of Fine Tune Audio in Bryanston.
