Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron and Starscream have descended on Centurion Mall this June, for the galactic second leg of the Transformers Animatronics: The Exhibition South African tour.
Transformers Animatronics: The Exhibition is a walk through exhibition depicting the rise of Transformers from the iconic 1980’s animated Generation 1 toy line, to the new age animated Rescue Bots and lastly to the incredible scrap metal sculptures, which tower above to represent the CGI Transformers we see in the movies today.
The exhibition features 12 animated Transformers, nine sculptures scaled between 2m and 9m, and another 20 statues varying in size – all made from re-used car parts, metal and other repurposed materials. The display spans over 2,500sqm of floor space and took over 20 days to build.
Transformers Animatronics: The Exhibition is not only an escape from reality but also serves as edutainment for kids with various fun activities and the school workbooks function as key learning tools ticking off subjects like Maths, Language and Life skills.
The family favourite exhibition proved successful at its first stop at Emperors Palace’s Red Shed earlier this year with numerous ecstatic kids and parents sharing their delight on social media:
Tickets are sold per entry slot. You can spend as much time as you like at the exhibition, but an average visit will take about two hours.
