What sets the Braamfontein’s Goliath Comedy Club apart from the other Goliath Comedy Club?
We think that braam is a beautiful story. There was a time braam was wasn’t a great place to go. But the community has rebranded themselves as the hip new cool space. Braam also attracts a diverse audience from students to young adults to families and tourists. Braam is synonymous for great markets restaurants, bars and clubs – a focused entertainment partner besides music was needed. There current offering is very music focused and there isn’t someone doing dedicated comedy. We believe a new York style underground comedy club will be the perfect addition. The GCC Braam will be a very focused basement style comedy room. It is about the comedy, no restaurant element – so cinema style seating, bar and amazing stage and great vibe and the best comedy SA has to offer.

In terms of opportunities to upcoming comedians, how is the Goliath Comedy Club supporting the growth of Comedy Culture in SA?
“As winners of the SA Comic Choice Awards – Best Friends of Comedy Award for three consecutive times, we are very proud of the fact that Goliath & Goliath is a brand recognised for putting comedy first. We will continue to deliver on this promise by creating platforms like The Box – Maboneng, The Goliath Comedy Club – Melrose Arch and The Goliath Comedy Club – Braamfontein. These spaces allow comedians to play on formal stages in different environments conducive for comedy and comedy to be more accessible to the industry’s growing audience” says Jason Goliath

What’s next for the Goliath Comedy Club?
Earlier this year Goliath & Goliath announced their expansion plans (in addition to The Goliath Comedy Club – Melrose Arch) to open four new spaces with the next 24 months targeting high traffic metropolitan areas. With Braamfontein, a few weeks away from opening and another space currently being tested in Menlyn, Goliath & Goliath are ahead of their anticipated growth.
