Netflix is raising their prices for streaming on their platform.
Users of the streaming service in the U.S. will see a price increase of $8 to $9 for basic plan, then $11 to $13 for HD streaming on up to two devices. The expensive plan, which streams 4K will raise from $14 to $16.
The prices hikes will apply immediately for new users while existing users will only see price changes over the next three months. The extra money will be used to help Netflix investment in original shows and movies.
The hike will also extend to about 40 countries in Latin America where Netflix bills in U.S. dollars, including Uruguay, Barbados, and Belize. It is not clear if South Africa will follow.
