PUMA will bring the first 2019 instalment of their SELECT Stories this Saturday.
The session will feature South Africa’s creative talent; Russell Abrahams ‘Yay Abe’, Brent Black, Austin Malema and Ethel Laka.
SELECT Stories will take place this Saturday, 16 March @ PUMA Select Courtyard in Braamfontein. Starting at 1pm, this couch Q&A session is a chance to get up close and personal with illustrator Russell Abrahams aka Yay Abe, Brent Black of Spaza Studio, hip-hop photographer Austin Malema and tattoo artist Ethel Laka.
Yay Abe hails from Cape Town and is known for his vibrant colours and stylised illustrations. After taking part in the Design Indaba Emerging Creatives programme in 2014, he has since gone on to pull off successful collabs with brands like Burger King.
Brent Black runs Spaza Studio, where he works as an illustrator, designer and all-round creative. His contemporary, urban aesthetic shone through in his work for the local project “012 TCG”, a trading card game by 112 of Gauteng’s finest to illustrate Jozi stalwarts.
Austin Malema is fast becoming one of the most in-demand hip-hop photographers in SA, with cover shoots on magazines like The Plug and The Throne under his belt, while Ethel Laka is one of very few black South African female tattoo artists and her speciality includes images of nature and natural beings.
