WhatsApp was recently under attack and users are now users are advised to update the app.
It’s reported the hackers were able to install spyware onto Android and iOS phones.
When the spyware is installed in your phone, it was able to fully access messages, emails, location, camera and mic.
The attack also allowed the hacker to view messages from users phone, even though WhatsApp promotes itself as a secure app because of the end-to-end encryption.
The Facebook-owned app has since then released a statement urging it’s 1.5 million global users to upgrade to the latest version:
“WhatsApp encourages people to upgrade to the latest version of our app, as well as keep their mobile operating system up to date, to protect against potential targeted exploits designed to compromise information stored on mobile devices.”
