Issa Rae is set to produce a reimagining of New Line Cinema classic movie ‘Set It Off’.
According to THR, Rae will produce the movie alongside Montrel McKay and will possibly star in the movie. Syreeta Singleton (Black Monday) and Nina Gloster (Star) will pen the screenplay.
Released in 1996, Set It Off stars Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox and Kimberly Elise as four friends who resort to crime after growing tired of their dead-end jobs. The movie managed to make $41 million at the box office from the $9 million budget.
Issa Rae still reigns with her hit series ‘Insecure’ which is headed for Season 4 coming in 2020.
A Black Lady Sketch Show is a narrative series set in a limitless magical reality full of dynamic, hilarious characters and celebrity guests. The show presents sketches performed by a core cast of black women, including Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Quinta Brunson. From the trailer we also see appearances by Angela Bassett, Loretta Divine, Amber Riley, Patti LaBelle, Kelly Rowland, Deon Cole, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Issa Rae.
