WATCH: A documentary which explores the origination of Amapiano genre

Papercutt has released a new documentary to explore the now-famous genre of Amapiano.

SHAYA! Amapiano is a 26-minute long documentary that features the popular names like Kabza De Small, MFR Souls,Tall Arse Tee, DJ Jaivane, JazziDisciples and Stokie.

The documentary focuses on the origination of the genre by taking it back to popular townships like Alexandra, Soweto, Eastrand which all played a fundamental role in pursuing the movement and putting it where it is today.

 

 

There have been many talks and debates about which area or township owns the genre and further if this type of music is credible enough to make it to the commercial level.

Today many South Africans cannot deny the rise of Amapiano especially with every music festival, radio station and clubs riding this same wave.
