Following the elimination of a further three hopefuls, fans of the Vodacom M-PESA Top Stars DJ talent search competition will be now treated to live broadcasts on Ukhozi FM from the remaining top six DJs, between 7 to 12 August.
Each of the six DJs will get two opportunities to perform live on air, before the next elimination round on Monday, 15 August on the ‘Home Drive Show’, where a further two aspiring DJs will be voted off by Ukhozi FM listeners.
Thembeka Zondo (DJ 3, KwaMashu) will be on air on 8 August (12: 00 to 15:00) and 10 August (06:00 to 09:00), Sabelo Mnikathi (DJ 10, Pietermaritzburg) between 12:00 and 15:00 and 06:00 and 09:00 on 9 and 12 August respectively, and Zimiphi Biyela (DJ 1, eMpangeni) between 21:00 and 00:00 and 15:00 and 18:00 on 10 and 12 August respectively. Nozipho Zulu (DJ 8, eMpangeni) will be broadcasting between 20:00 and 23:00 and 06:00 and 09:00 on 7 an 11 August respectively, while Sibusiso Dlamini (DJ 2, eMsinga) will be live on air on 8 August (15:00 to 18:00) and 11 August (12:00 to 15:00), and finally Bongani Nzama (DJ 9, Umlazi) on 8 and 11 August between 09:00 and 12:00 and 15:00 and 18:00 respectively.
In narrowing the top nine down to the top six, Ukhozi listeners cast over 15 000 votes, with Senzo Magwaza (DJ 7, Tongaat), Zama B Buthelezi (DJ 5, Pietermaritzburg) and Mandla Masondo (DJ 6, Newcastle) falling by the wayside. The remaining six DJs will be going all out to survive the next round of eliminations, and will all be hoping to keep alive their chances of making it to the Gala Dinner on 1 September still in contention for the title of ‘2011 Vodacom M-PESA Top Stars Ultimate Radio Presenter’, as well as the chance to spend an entire year training at Ukhozi FM before joining the station as a presenter.
Listeners who wish to cast their vote should tune in to Ukhozi FM, choose their favourite finalist then SMS the finalist’s name and competition number to 33106. To stand a chance to win R500 in M-PESA each week, voters must register for Vodacom M-PESA before voting for their favourite DJ.
