South African musical legends Stimela are taking their performance to a whole new level at this year’s Macufe Fesival as they perform during the Amstel Golden Hour. As a brand, Amstel Lager is well into it’s second year of supporting the best of local music to deliver world-class performances that they so richly deserve.
“It’s an incredible honour to associate with a band of Stimela’s calibre and collaborate with them on creating a blow-out performance for music lovers” comments brand manager Nomonde Donsa “Amstel recognises that SA’s music talent compares with that of anywhere in the world. We want to celebrate our music and raise it even higher for all to appreciate.
The beer brand has had an amazing two years working in partnership with some of South Africa’s greatest musical talent. Who can forget Lira and the massed Soweto Choir at Tribute or Zakes Bantwini stealing the show at Duban Jazz Festival?
As a group, Stimela needs little introduction. They fired up the 1980’s and 90’s with their fierce lyrics and unique musical stylings, and are without doubt a South African musical institution. True to their latest album, A Lifetime, Stimela is constantly reiventing themselves to reconnect with a younger generation. And judging by their clean sweep at this years SAMA Awards; winning the Best Adult Contemporary Album – African, The Best Traditional/African Adult Contemporary African DVD, with popular house DJ, Black Coffee taking the Remix of the year awards; they have done just that! It is in this spirit that they have partnered with Amstel and push their performance to new heights.
“As a band, we have a great love the performance part of our craft – being able to connect with people who love your music is such a gift” comments Stimela’s Ray Phiri “We’re excited about giving our all during Amstel Golden Hour – the performance is going to be one of ‘A Lifetime.”
The Macufe Arts Festival will take place from the 03rd October, with the music festival schedule for the 08th of October. Stimela will raise the bar on the final night. It’s one show not to be missed.
