BlackBerry users have been hit by a major outage reportedly affecting the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) across parts of Africa, the Middle East and Europe, including the UK.

The extent of the problem isn’t yet clear, but countless SA BlackBerry users began reporting problems early on Monday afternoon through social media services such as Twitter and Facebook.
Some SA users of the service as far flung as Abu Dhabi have reported problems accessing the service.
Vodacom confirmed the reports that the problems are caused by issues on the RIM network, but could not give any further details.
MTN also confirmed the problems, but referred all media queries to RIM.
RIM/BlackBerry said that they “are working to resolve an issue currently impacting some BlackBerry subscribers in Europe, Middle East and Africa. We’re investigating, and we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused whilst this is resolved.”
