Organisers of the 18th annual MTN South African Music Awards have recently announced the extensive structural redesign had been had been scrapped.
Last week Sama CEO Randall Abrahams announced the number of categories had been trimmed from close to 60 to around 30.
Yesterday at an informal press briefing, former Sama CEO Shaun Watson said: “The genres will remain the same.”
Watson explained the reasons they had redefined the categories were because they were catering for the official broadcaster of the Samas, which is SABC1.
The full final list of categories would be released today and would be available on the SAMA website.
