Minnie Dlamini has dumped her mini-role on SABC 1 Music Show “LIVE”
The channel on Thursday dismissed claims that Dlamini had tendered her resignation from the popular music show, claiming they had “re-assigned” her to variety show Mzansi Insider.
The channel’s brand manager, Vukile Madlala, said:
“Minnie did not resign. We took a decision to move her to Mzansi Insider because Live has a new format which she won’t be needed for.“We already have Bonang as the lead female and this new format only needs one female.”
The resignation comes after Dlamini made her debut on M-Net’s The Wild soapie on Wednesday.
In the show, she stars as Zinhle Lebone, the daughter of businesswoman Marang Lebone, who is played by Connie Ferguson.
The 21-year-old confirmed to City Press she has resigned from the music show.
She said: “Yes, I did resign from Live to pursue my first love, which is acting. I never wanted to stay longer than two years at Live. I guess my decision was six months premature, but I do feel like it’s my time [to leave].”
But that is not the only change Live will be making as another presenter, Sizwe Dhlomo, will also be leaving at the end of December.
“With Sizwe also having resigned, we are looking into getting a male presenter to accommodate the new format,” said Madlala.
Whispers have it that the channel is in talks with DJs Sphectacula and Naves, who are potential
candidates to replace Dhlomo on the show.
