Amstel Lager is well into its second year in celebrating the best of local artists and giving music fans the time of their lives. With this in mind, the new queen of South African music –Zahara, will be collaborating with Amstel Lager at this year’s MTN Durban Jazz Festival to enthral fans with a world-class performance full of surprises. SA music just gets better with Amstel.
Zahara will be performing with a mini philharmonic orchestra during Amstel Golden Hour on the 26th of December at the MTN Durban Jazz Festival at Hazelmere, “It’s brilliant that Amstel is recognising SA musicians like Lira, Zakes Bantwini and now Zahara during the Amstel Golden Hour. I’ve seen it first-hand and it’s amazing,” says Kabomo Vilakazi, Amstel’s Music Ambassador.

Zahara burst onto the SA music scene in September this year, with her album going multi-platinum in record time. As a result, it has not taken long for the self taught acoustic guitarist and singer/songwriter to become the new queen of SA music.
Zahara is set to leave her mark on SA Music with her unique style of Afro Soul. True to her name which in Arabic means ‘budding flower’, this free spirit that hails from the Eastern Cape is blooming. Having won both Best Female Album and Song of the Year at the recent Metro FM Music Awards, her appearance at the AGH concert on December 26th will catapult her performance to new heights.
“The last couple of months have been incredible for me as an artist, and I am grateful that Amstel is giving me the time to give my fans an unbelievable show. Thanks to Amstel I’ve got my own mini philharmonic orchestra led by Afrika Mkhize, and I get the chance to collaborate with one of my heroes, Tshepo Tshola. I’m so looking forward to sharing Amstel Golden Hour with all my incredible fans. We’re going to blow Durban away!” says Zahara.
Zahara will be putting the time into rehearsing with the orchestra with three full rehearsals scheduled running up to her Amstel Golden Hour performance, ensuring that fans get to experience her Afro Soul like never before.
