Vodacom has announced that they together with RIM (Research in Motion) have launched the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and Curve 9380 smartphones in South Africa and exclusive to Vodacom (for now).
“We are excited to offer two new BlackBerry 7-based smartphones to our customers in South Africa. We trust our customers will be impressed by the smooth and integrated communications features, responsive interface, and stylish finish these new models offer.” says Zunaid Dinath, Vodacom’s Managing Executive – Sales.
The two new BBs’ run RIM’s latest BlackBerry 7 mobile operating system, which extends the OS7 range already available from Vodacom. Unlike the Curve 8520 and 9300 which are very popular among South Africans but are rather lacking in the specs department, the latest from RIM promises powerful, fluid and exciting new features, well its a bit late but hey – better late than never.
“We are pleased to work with Vodacom to introduce the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 smartphones to customers in South Africa,” said Rui Brites, Director of Product Management for Africa at RIM. “Thanks to the new BlackBerry 7 operating system, these powerful new devices deliver a fast, rich and fluid experience.”
