TV and radio personality Bonang Matheba is the first South African female media personality and second woman in South Africa to be verified by social platform Twitter.
With over 255 000 followers on twitter, Bonang was verified on Friday 17th August 2012, meaning there will now be a blue, verified badge on her Twitter profile.
This came after news that she will be acting in season two of the popular SABC1 drama series Intersexions.
Twitter currently focuses on verifying highly sought users across a variety of key industries to establish the authenticity of identities on the platform. Verification also makes it easier for users to find who they are looking for.
“I feel truly honoured and humbled by the news of being verified by twitter. I know it’s a small tick, but in the world of social networking, it’s a real big deal, meaning that I am clearly doing something great.”
