The ‘King of Satire’, Loyiso Gola is set to make a triumphant return to the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City Casino for two shows only on Friday, 2 November and Saturday, 3 November 2012.
He will be performing his latest and what is set to become his bravest show yet, Professional Black.
This prodigious comedy talent has been gracing live stages and television with his exciting, unique and frank comedy for over a decade. He has won many admirers with his fresh outspoken views, going where few comedians have dared to go. His last show Life & Times, with which he celebrated a decade of performing comedy, sold out houses in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Soweto.
Professional Black will prove that even ten years down the line Gola is only getting better and his comedy odyssey just beginning.
Having returned from being invited to perform at the two biggest comedy festivals in the world, the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Gola is confident that his new offering will take his craft to a whole new level.
“I wanted to have a title that would spark interest, ignite curiosity and provoke debate,” says the award-winning comedian as he explains how the show highlights the preconceived notions and assumptions as to what ‘Professional Black’ means. The show will consist of the laugh out loud comedy that he has become known for but will also debunk and illustrate just how ridiculous many of the stereotypes that exist in South Africa today are.
This award-winning comedian is now recognised as one of the finest acts in the industry and his groundbreaking TV show Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola, now in its fifth season, is the country’s only satirical news programme with each instalment drawing over a million viewers every week.
Professional Black promises to be a comedy romp full of tear-jerking, funny and hard-hitting punch lines, taking Loyiso Gola back to where it all began, with just him, a stage, his microphone and an audience. Professional Black is presented by Podium…The Comedy Merchants in association with e.tv and eNews Channel Africa.
The show takes place on Friday, 2 November and Saturday, 3 November at 20:00.
Tickets are priced from R120 to R305. On sale at Computicket or at The Lyric Theatre Box Office on 011 248 5000.
