To celebrate South Africa’s Freedom Day on April 27th, international soulful house music phenomenon, Black Coffee, will present an optimistic new staging of his live orchestral show, Africa Rising™, on Soweto’s historic Freedom Square, where the Freedom Charter, a cornerstone of the nation’s constitution, was adopted in Soweto in 1955.

“It has been almost three years since Soweto helped me with my attempt to set the record for the world’s longest DJ set while launching the DJ Black Coffee Foundation, so I am very excited to return with another positive initiative in Soweto, this time to celebrate the hard earned freedom of our country with a very special performance, accompanied by some of my favorite artists on a world class stage.” says show creator and executive producer, Nkosinathi Maphumulo a.k.a. Black Coffee.

The show consists of original Soulistic Music compositions from his albums Black Coffee, Have Another One, Homebrew and newer songs debuted at the 2011 Moses Mabhida Stadium Africa Rising live recording. The forthcoming live show once again features a classical orchestra conducted by Brendan Jury along with live vocalists including Zano, Soulstar, Thiwe, Bucie, Tumelo, Toshi, Alexander James, Marissa Guzman, a special appearance by Black Moses of the Soul Brothers, Nathan Adams from Tribe(London) and the addition of material from Black Coffee’s original group, Shana, consisting of long-standing collaborators Demor and Shota.

“Africa Rising™ has been designed as an optimistic platform to celebrate the freedom South Africa enjoys today, and to build faith Africa’s own capability and future. We’ll be giving it everything we’ve got!” adds Africa Rising co-creator and executive producer Glenn van Loggerenberg a.k.a. DJ Strat3gy.

The two hour live house music show, which debuted at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2011, has gone on to become a top selling live DVD and CD with multiple 2013 South African Music Award nominations. Audiences can expect a non-stop dance experience wrapped in trademark synchronized lighting and LED visuals, presented within a safety first professional event environment. The live show will be supported by Culoe de Song, DJ Strat3gy, Sai & Ribatone and DJ Kabila. Further Djs to be announced.

Africa Rising™ is a joint venture between Soulistic Music and Don’t Look Down Convergence Agency.
