SABC is set to partner with the Vodacom Durban July 2013, an annual prestigious event with horse racing, high fashion, elegance, fine cuisine and champagne on Saturday, 6 July at Greyville Racecourse in Durban.
SABC’s spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says:

The combined power of SABC Radio stations and SABC TV channels will provide a competitive advantage and bring fresh and exclusive content to the listeners and viewers.”
SABC’s involvement at the Vodacom Durban July this year entails the following:
SABC3:
– will broadcast a live feed comprising of lifestyle at the horse racing event on Saturday, 6 July from 14:30 to 17:00.
– Top Billing, and Expresso, will cover the Vodacom Durban July.
– 3Talk with Noeleen will do a Vodacom Durban July special with fashion designers and Vodacom representatives in the studio closer to the event.
5FM:
– The Miller Boomtown Marquee at the Durban July on Saturday, from 11:00 with the hottest live entertainment hosted by 5FM’s Poppy Ntshongwana and featuring performances from international rapper 2 Chainz who will be sharing the stage with South African artists such as Dimplez, Khuli Chana, AKA, Vigilante and 5FM DJ’s Rob & Fix, MsCosmo, Milkshake and House Head Euphonik.
– (Live)5 featuring AKA and Khuli Chana hosted by Catherine Grenfell along with the Ultimix: Weekend Edition will broadcast live from the 5FM Miller Boomtown Marquee, keeping the good vibes going from 17:00 to 22:00 with the beats from 5FM’s Euphonik and guest DJ’s Kent and others.
– will also host the hottest and Official Vodacom Durban July After Party taking place at the Wave house, Umhlanga. Don’t miss, DJ’s Nick Supply, Classy Menace, Locnville and 5FM DJ’s Milkshake, Roger Goode, Euphonik and Stephanie B. The man looking after the evening will be Rob Forbes from 18:00 to 02:00.
Metro FM:
– will have an Outside Broadcast, from 06:00 to 09:00 with Joe (SABC Studio’s); from Noon to 15:00 with Carole; and from 15:00 to 18:00 with DJ Sbu, live from the marquee at the racecourse.
– on Thursday, 4 July, Metro FM will be handing over a house to the family in Umgababa as part of its CSI initiative. – Siphokazi will broadcast live from Umgababa from 09:00 to Noon and Amon and Thato will broadcast live from Noon to 15:00.
Ukhozi FM:
– Ukhozi FM and KwaZulu-Natal Tourism department will have a fashion show in the marquee showcasing the best of KwaZulu-Natal fashion talent. The guests will be entertained with live performances.
Other platforms that will cover the event include SABC1 lifestyle programme, Selimathunzi, Lesedi FM, and Good Hope FM.
