Spring is in the air; flowers are in bloom, birds in abundance, and a long heritage weekend is around the corner and best of all afro-pop sensation Mafikizolo are pruned, primed and ready to revive our souls as they headline the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens’ Sunday, 15 September edition at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.
Having taken over the South African airwaves with the smash single “Khona” from their Reunited album, Mafikizolo will be embarking on an extensive African tour and this marks one of the last opportunities to catch them on home soil before they leave.
There’s more – multi-instrumentalist and Idols finalist Sindi Nene will be the opening act. With one of the most unique voices in the industry, she is definitely going to set the tone for an incredible heritage-filled day at the Gardens.
“Fauna and flora is one of our most prized natural heritages so celebrating our biodiversity is one of the central pillars of the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens concert series,” commented Bandile Mngoma, Old Mutual Sponsorship Manager.
“We have made great strides in this regard in 2013, having engaged the public and various stakeholders on raising awareness of the importance of our natural heritage. We believe this spring celebration will go down as one of the biggest and best concerts we have ever hosted.”
The Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series in 2013 has already witnessed scintillating performances from top-class artists such as Zonke, Mi Casa, Johnny Clegg and Prime Circle.
