The Soil and The Muffinz will perform at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens on Sunday 29 September as part of the popular Old Mutual Music in the Gardens concert series.
It will be a funky, earthy, organic and authentic occasion so rare that one would never forgive themselves for missing this extra-ordinary concert featuring two of the most talented and talked about young groups in the industry today.
The Soil has been a breath of fresh air through the South African soul music scene over the past year with their ground breaking, soulful, genuine and catchy tunes. This year also saw their self-titled album become one of the very few to reach gold status.
Defined as Kasi Soul, the group’s music features an eclectic mix of musical genres such as jazz, hip hop, Afro-pop and Afro-soul. Their unique musical style is evident in its rhythmic vocal bass line, with constant beat boxing – a distinct feature in the music – whilst the remaining voices contribute to the choral and polyphonic accompaniment.
The Muffinz will unleash their mysteriously beautiful world of eclectic soul to young and old under the clear spring skies at the Gardens. The music of The Muffinz is so new, yet so soulful, so accessible, so honest and so innocent, that it appeals to all age groups, races, classes and sexes.
“The Soil & The Muffinz represent a new breed of South African musicians who draw on the basics, energise them with modern elements and use authentic ideas and approaches to create their sound. Our series will showcase them in an equally breathtaking environment that celebrates all that is natural and precious to South Africa,” said Bandile Mngoma, Old Mutual Sponsorship Manager.
“We invite all music lovers – especially those with a more discerning yet funky taste to come out and enjoy themselves at the beautiful and scenic Pretoria Botanical Gardens.”
Visitors are encouraged to come early, bring picnic chairs and blankets and spend the day in natural splendour. There is a restaurant in the gardens plus a supervised children’s area.
