Singer-songwriter Lindiwe Suttle releases “1000 Miles,” the second single off her debut album, Kamikaze Art, due out 2014. The song “1000 Miles” is about reminiscing about a first love.
It was written by Lindiwe, Tammy Ingram, Ivan Georgiev, Robert & Marko Meister and has already received international songwriting recognition. The song was a Top 12 finalist in the biggest songwriting competition in the world, International Songwriting Competition, beating out over 20,000 entries in the Perfomance category. ISC industry icons likes Tom Waits, Jeff Beck, Nas and Janelle Monae awarded “1000 Miles” an Honorary Mention award.
The song was also a Finalist in the Unsigned Only contest and UK Songwriting contest. Lindiwe laments, “we were young learning how to love, I gave you this love and kept nothing to keep me strong.” She sings about how a first love is never forgotten, “a fingerprint on my heart, first impression of its kind, I still feel it from 1000 Miles.” SAMAwinning producer DJ Sbu remixed “1000 Miles” for his own album, Sound Revival 2, which went gold in 2012.
The “1000 Miles” music video tells the story of two lovers that are torn apart. It is directed by Roice Nel and features DJ Sbu as Lindiwe’s love interest and features an explosive perfomance by actor, Luthando Mthi, who plays Lindiwe’s father. Director Roice Nel explains, “too often we are surrounded by plastic and for this music video I wanted to create a journey that was human, something real.”
