Universal Music South Africa has received an astonishing 28 nominations from this year’s Metro FM Music Awards. A total of 15 different artists from Universal Music South African were nominated in a selection of categories.
Super group Mafikizolo is the front runner amongst the Universal Music South Africa artists, receiving five nominations in four different categories. These categories include Best African Pop, Best Duo/Group, Best Collaboration and also two Song of the Year nominations for both Happiness and Khona.
Naima Kay and Uhuru were both honoured with four nominations. Categories Naima Kay were nominated in include Best Female Artist, Best Newcomer, Best African Pop and Song of the Year; while Uhuru was nominated for Best Dance Album, Best Duo/Group, Best Collaboration and Song of the Year. With three nominations, songstress Zahara was included in the Best African Pop, Best Female Artist and Song of the Year categories. Heavy K received noms for Best Dance Album and Song of the Year.
Universal Music South Africa artists that were nominated in the Best Urban Jazz category include Nomfundo Xaluva, Julius Schultz and Swazi Dlamini. Character and Alaska were both nominated for Best Kwaito album, while GB Collective was honoured with a nomination for Best R&B Album. Gino Brown was nominated for Best Hit Single, Nqubeko Mbatha for Best Urban Gospel Album and Revolution for Best Collaboration.

The 13th Metro FM Music Awards will be hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, City Of Durban and BP South Africa and held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Conference Centre (ICC), in Durban on the 01st of March 2014.
