Mxit launches a music campaign and 40’000 free songs

Mxit, the South African mobile social network, today announced the roll out of a national marketing campaign showcasing some of SA’s biggest music stars. The line-up includes Mafikizolo, iFani, Khuli Chana, Euphonik, AKA, Liquideep, The Kiffness, Toya DeLazy and is fronted by the local ‘King of House Music’, Zakes Bantwini.

The campaign follows the announcement and release of new product features across key operating systems last week, and encourages people to move to the new Mxit. “We are a proudly South African success story, and want to share the best local music talent with young people on the move”, says Mxit’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Ben-Carl Havemann. “The through-the-line campaign has been designed from the product out, and we have developed a Music Studio app on Mxit where we will be giving away more than 40’000 song downloads over the next 10 weeks”.

Mxit users* can add the Mxit Music Studio app, which will feature 1 artist every week, and find pages packed with profiles, photos, interviews and video shout outs. At the end of each featured artist’s week, 5’000 downloads of their single will be made available to Mxit users free of charge (on a first-come first-serve basis).

The Mxit Music Studio gives artists a unique opportunity to engage with new and existing fans via the Mxit platform. “The whole reason that we make music is to share it. The Mxit Music Studio is a great platform for SA artists to share their music and interact with their fans.” commented Zakes.
The Mxit Music Studio kicks off with GoodLuck on Monday 14th April 2014, whose hit single ‘Figure of 8’ will be available for download on 19th April 2014.
