South African house virtuosos, Mi Casa, consisting of Dr Duda (producer and pianist), J’Something (vocalist) and Mo-T (trumpeter), have officially etched their name into the South African MINI fabric in a new brand partnership which will see them joining the likes of DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Goodluck, Goldfish and Seth Rotherham as friends of the brand.
Mi Casa is ten parts uniqueness and one hundred parts talent. Formed in 2011 after meeting at a rooftop party, the members gained massive traction after releasing their debut self-titled album. The sheer coincidence of their emergence is mind blowing. Nothing can explain how the three of them arrived at the same place and time with such strong chemistry.
Dr Duda is no stranger to the music industry, having been crafting beats for over fifteen years and rubbing shoulders with the likes of DJ Fresh and many others. J’Something, songwriter, vocalist and a beast on guitar, started playing at the age of eleven. Originally from Portugal, Joao (J’Something) moved to South Africa when he was just seven years old. Mo-T emerged from a musically rooted family and was taught how to play by his father, who was an integral part of the legendary South African group Mango Groove.
From humble beginnings to a number one track listing that defies belief, the band is constantly on the road performing locally and abroad, which makes the new MINI Hatch the perfect companion for them. By dedicating themselves to newness and originality Mi Casa has transformed house music, turning it into something fresh and unique.
The newly released MINI Hatch shares the same spirit. It is this kinship that has forged an unbreakable bond between the band and their newest partner – MINI.
“We celebrate those who choose to stand out from the clutter, we celebrate original masters of stand-out talent,” said Kabelo Rabotho, General Manager of MINI South Africa.
Powered by a 4-cylinder (Cooper S) and 3-cylinder (Cooper) petrol engine with the MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology, the new MINI Hatch is loaded with indelible feistiness. Accelerating from zero to one hundred in just 6.8 seconds, this new offering is as thrilling as it is wildly entertaining to drive. This new breed of MINI Hatch is all about pairing the unexpected to achieve formidable results. Just like Mi Casa.
“We’ve always thrived on doing things differently. By pairing the unexpected. That’s why we’re excited to announce our partnership with MINI. The brand shares a similar spirit. It’s simply not enough to accept normal. We like to take the road less travelled” adds the band.
It’s a ‘heavenly sent’ match. One of South Africa’s favourite bands driving South Africa’s most innovative MINI.
“For us teaming up with the band was a natural fit, and we are very excited to have them on board. Mi Casa are a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, just like the new MINI Hatch in the premium small car segment. I hope South Africa is ready because old school is about to meet the new cool,” added Rabotho.
