Virgin Mobile South Africa is the new headline sponsor of SkyRoomLive (SRL), which showcases live music performances that are filmed in HD and 3D and then broadcasts them live onto social networks and via the SRL website. SRL caters for a diverse demographic of music lovers – from urban and hip hop to indie rock and Afrikaans.

Virgin Mobile recognised the power and potential of the SRL platform, especially SRL’s Saturday night urban shows, which are licensed to youth TV channel SABC 1. “Music is an essential part of Virgin Mobile’s DNA. Bringing the hottest urban acts and new exciting music-related opportunities to eager fans is part of our heritage, which is why we are so excited to be involved in music properties like SkyRoomLive’s Urban Festivals,” said Jason Hair, Virgin Mobile’s COO.

SRL has already achieved over 2 million live and archived views over one year alone, with an average of 600,000 Facebook impressions per week. It is listed number 12 in the world under heavyweights like iTunes Festival, Red Bull Studios, Live at Letterman and Boiler Room, and online live views during performances can reach upwards from 6000 to 1 million views globally.

Line-up

With Virgin Mobile’s sponsorship support, SRL is already shaking things up with an incredible roster of artists on the bill for this season. Expect the likes of Mi Casa, Reason, The Soil, AKA, Kabomo, Brian Temba, Black Coffee and more.

As the agency that closed the deal, OEJ believes in developing long-term relationships with brands and promoters. One-eyed Jack co-director and head of sponsorship, Manuela de Deus, said that the SRL sponsorship comes off the back of One-eyed Jack’s solid business relationship with Virgin Mobile, which has already seen the brand sponsor the John Newman SA Tour this past April – with more sponsorship deals in the works.

In addition to Virgin Mobile, One-eyed Jack has confirmed additional sponsorships for SRL from Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky and Flying Fish Premium Flavoured Beer.
