Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has revealed that he’s doubled his efforts to ensure that he earns himself a new deal at the club.
The veteran defender is yet to put pen to paper with the Buccaneers but he is optimistic that he will still be playing for the Soweto giants next season.
“I’m in prison. I’m training hard to make sure that I continue playing and making Pirates fans happy,” Lekgwathi told reporters.
Lekgwathi also believes that the new Pirates jersey will motivate them to do well against Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Cup like it did when they won the trophy two years ago.
“I remember we were launching a new jersey with the same colour, playing in the Black Label Cup and we managed to win it. I think history will repeat itself this year.
“As you know there’s no friendly when playing Kaizer Chiefs. So, I’m looking forward to making sure that we make our supporters happy,” added Lekgwathi.
The much anticipated Soweto Derby is scheduled for Saturday, July 26 at the iconic FNB Stadium. Kick-off is at 15h00.
