Orlando Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba says he’s focused on his Bucs career despite having attracted interest from other clubs, when speaking exclusively to Goal
Absa Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have both been linked with the versatile Pirates defender.
His agent Abbie Rasimphi of Liberate Resources Sports Management has already confirmed interest in his client from European clubs too.
“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season. The pre-season preparations are going well so far. We can’t wait for the Carling Black Label match,” Matlaba told Goal.
It is also believed the 26-year-old Bafana Bafana full-back turned down a contract renewal offer from Bucs last month.
Opting to hold contract talks with Pirates management next year June when his current Bucs deal expires.
“As for my contract, I’m currently focusing on my career at Pirates. Stories of me leaving the team soon are just rumours. I’m committed to Pirates,” he concluded.
‘Festival’ was one of Bucs’ key players during the 2013/14 campaign, making 45 appearances in all competitions and netting four goals.
