Kaizer Chiefs playmaker Siphiwe Tshabalala has been ruled out of action for 14 days following a horrific knee injury in a friendly match against Chippa United in Port Elizabeth & Bernard Parker is out for the next four months, following an ankle surgery.
This means that they will miss the much anticipated Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The injury to the key mens of Amakhosi is the last thing the club’s faithful needed to hear three days away from a big showdown with their fiercest rivals and a week away from their MTN 8 last eight meeting against Mpumalanga Black Aces at home.
And The current PSL Top goalscorer and Kaizer Chiefs attacker Bernard Parker recently underwent surgery for a niggling ankle injury. Parker battled with the injury for the most part of the season, nonetheless, he earned the league’s top goalscorer award for his 10 goals in 27 domestic league appearances.
“Parker has undergone surgery on his ankle. The PSL’s 2013/14 Top Goalscorer battled throughout the season with a troubling ankle injury which led to the Medical Team deciding to carry out the surgery sooner (rather) than later,” said physio David Milner to the Chiefs official site.
The 28-year-old attacker will be in a moon-boot for six weeks, prior to his rehabilitation program.
The club’s statement late on Tuesday from its website read: “A Chippa United player fell over the midfield maestro (Siphiwe Tshabalala), causing harm to the inner ligament of the knee.” & “We expect Parker to be fully recovered in three to four months which means he will miss the start of the 2014/15 season,” said Milner.
Tshabalala will also miss the ABSA Premiership’s opener against Free State Stars a week after their Wafa Wafa encounter.
Parker will be a major blow for Chiefs when they face Orlando Pirates in the season opener next month.
