Sindi Nene (born 28 April 1988) is a South African multi-instrumentalist best known as a Mnet Idols VI 3rd finalist, bassist and singer flexible enough to draw upon many genres in her live performances and compositions.
To date, Sindi has one of the most unique & biggest voices in Africa; she studied Jazz and Popular Music Diploma at University of KwaZulu Natal Howard College School of Music and learned how to play multiple instruments.
Soon after her exit on Idols VI Sindi was signed to international record label Universal Music in February 2011 for a lucrative 5 album deal, her first album was then released in November 2011 with hit single Nguwe Wedwa charting on most major radio stations in South Africa and neighboring countries and the videos receiving high rotation. Sindi is currently working on her second album TGE which she is producing and also serving as Executive Producer.
This album is a unique blend of different African sounds and popular music and will draw international influences. TGE will be released worldwide through an independent distribution deal she has with Orchard Music and already has a single out and a video getting exclusive release on Channel O. As a versatile and fierce stage performer, Sindi was contracted to be the main lead in the theatre musical ‘Drama Queen’, a play that celebrated the life of the late Lebo Mathosa in late 2012, the play was directed by veteran actor and play-writer Sello Maake KaNcube and saw Sindi playing the lead role of Lebo Mathosa. Sindi’s performance received outstanding media reviews and constant standing ovations from the audience. Sindi Nene was the first choice for the tribute to Brenda Fassie at the Hansa Festival Of Legends 2013.

Sindi has been guest attending and constantly performing at some of the country’s biggest events, she performed the England National anthem ‘God Save The Queen’ in front of millions of rugby viewers worldwide for an international match between England and South Africa and she has also had her hand in acting as she made cameo appearances on the Mnet soapie The Wild alongside Connie Ferguson and Gail Nkaone. Sindi Nene has also been a Sub-Sahara / Southern Africa Brand Ambassador for Alcatel One Touch as part of their successful re-branding campaign she has also represented other brands. Sindi is currently serving as a Nokia Ambassador.
