Official Statement – Cassper Nyovest Re: Urban Brew Studios Incident
Musician, Cassper Nyovest, Real name, Refiloe Phoolo, was set to perform last night, 15th August 2014, on SABC 1’s Music show, Live Amp.
Unfortunately due to an incident involving another artist, also due to perform on the same show, Kiernan Forbes, more commonly known by his artist name AKA, Cassper Nyovest was unable to showcase his latest single.
The incident involved one of AKA’s entourage members’, known as Prince Nyembe, threatening Cassper Nyovest with a firearm and AKA assaulting Cassper’s Road Manager, Tshepo Seone better known as ‘Spike’.
Cassper Nyovest has not taken this incident lightly and charges have been laid against the involved abovementioned parties at Randburg Police station in Johannesburg.
Cassper says “I feel this incident was unnecessary and was a sad day for the entertainment industry in South Africa. I chose not to retaliate as I have lived the life of gangster violence before and walked away from it to pursue my music career. As I am a public figure now what message would I be sending out to the people that support me. Therefore I will take the correct procedures to deal with the matter”
There will be no further comment or statements from Cassper Nyovest or his team involving this incident until all matters are investigated fully.
