Orlando Pirates want to be consistent and continue their winning ways, and that is why they will play for nothing less than a win when they take on the Nedbank Ke Yona team on Sunday.
Although the Buccaneers will be without some of their regulars who are away on national duty with Bafana Bafana, they will use the match to prepare for their Absa Premiership clash against Bidvest Wits.
A team was selected after hundreds of hopefuls tried to impress the coaches including Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba, on a nationwide talent search.
The Ke Yona team will have an opportunity to shine and maybe upstage the current Nedbank champions, Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers who started the season poorly seem to have found their rhythm and will want to maintain it.
Orlando Pirates assistant coach, Eric Tinkler says: “This game is important to Orlando Pirates, we will use this game as preparation for our next league game which will be against Wits and how do we prepare, by winning this game, keeping that positive mentality going forward because we have got two important games coming up.”
The Ke Yona team has played friendlies against four PSL clubs in preparation for Sunday’s match.
Ke yona coach Mike Mangena says: “We wanted that by the time we play Pirates, the team understand exactly what is expected instead of defending and attacking, you will see those aspects of their game come Sunday.”
Some of the players who turned out in the previous Nedbank Ke Yona team have reportedly already been signed by PSL clubs.
