SA female Rapper – Nadia Nakai has just dropped a collabo with Naija Superstar – Ice Prince and is working on new album. We caught up with her to get more details about the project.

-For those who don’t know, who is Nadia Nakai?
Nadia Nakai is a South African female rapper, Hiphop artist.

– When did you begin your rap career? has it always been something you wanted to pursue?
I started rapping when I was 16. Recorded my first studio song when I was 18.Its been something I’ve wanted to pursue since I can remember. My first love…

– Who are some of the local artists who have contributed to your success so far in this music journey?
Psyfo for one, Im signed to him. Secondly I would say Tido he might not know it but his advice really enlightens me.

– You just dropped a banger single with Naija superstar Ice Prince? How did the collabo happen?
I had been trying to get him on this song for like 6 months! I spoke to his South African representatives and they had started the discussion with him. Then I met Ubi Franklin from Made men music when I performed at the Channel O awards last year and he was the direct link.

Was so excited when I got that mail from Ice Prince saying he loved the song and was happy to jump on! I almost died!! Lol.

– The song represents versatile sound with hip hop fused with vibey groove and the African flow, what inspired the sound & concept of the song?
I really wanted the song to feel very South African with a Naija feel which is what Ice brought to the table. I want this song to feel like a collabo of the two countries! Naija and South Africa. I think I did that well!

– And you’re also working on your album, what can we expect from this project? & when can we expect the release?
I definitely will be releasing my album this year! It will be the best thing you have ever heard! I have always said my main competition is male rappers. This album will be competing with the leading male rappers in Africa. Just watch this space.

– Who are some of the artists you’ve featured on the album? & what inspired the selection?
Ice Prince, Reason, Kwesta, Ab Crazy, Sphum, don’t want to mention all of them. Get that album… there is another African feature but it won’t be an official single watch out for it, it will be on the Album though

.
– Our Local hip hop scene is male dominated do you think it’s coz female rappers are not given a chance & opportunity or the industry is missing more female rappers?
Girls are given the same opportunities as mean! You just have to grind much harder to be exposed to them. Work workwork! And people will see you. Stay top of mind and work will come to you. Focus on your own projects to maximise exposure and your good.

– Let’s maybe get a hint/…..What other projects will you be working on this year?
Movie ish!!!!! **Hints**

– Future plans from here?
Still pushing my new sing ft Ice Prince called SAKA WENA.Its available on Itunes international!
I will also be shooting the video very soon.
