Metro FM jock & Idols SA judge , Unathi Msengana has been taken off air , after a heated twitter conversation.
It all started on Monday morning when Unathi caused a stir on twitter after she challenged a student who had called into the radio show she hosts with Glen Lewis to complain about the University of Stellenbosch’s language policy.
The studio stated; ‘I applied to study at Stellenbosch University in 2009. I was assured by everyone throughout that process that Afrikaans wouldn’t be an issue — Thanga Labo (@musa_gwebani) August 24, 2015.’
Then Unathi asked the student what was meant by the term Afrikaans “wouldn’t be an issue” and whether or not the university had actually told the student this in writing.
That lead to Unathi receiving a massive criticism on twitter, which then caused her to send an insulting direct message to one of her fans.
The SABC took a decision to suspend Unathi from her SABC duties till they had investigated the matter.
