With the holiday season approaching, we can expect to see some festive sneakers coming from Nike, and leading the way is this “Day of the Dead” inspired Cortez.
Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday dedicated to honouring those who have passed, and Nike has created sneakers just for this tradition.
The Nike Cortez is dressed with traditional Mexican imagery that is closely associated with the holiday. These images can be found on the side panels of the Cortez. If you take a look inside the shoe, you will find an outsole with a colourful skull design on it.
The back of the shoe appears to have some sort of rose on the heel, while the laces appear to come with colourful lace locks that complete the theme of the shoe. Rounding out the look is the black suede found on the heel, Swoosh and toebox, while additional hits of black are found in the laces, tongue and lining of the shoe.
The Nike Cortez Premium QS “Day of the Dead” is now available at Shesha Stores and will release online at Shelflife on Friday the 30th of October for the retail price of R1099.00.
