Sun International is set to fork R800m which will be spent on renovating North West’s popular resort town – Sun City. Sun City accommodates guests from all over SA and abroad who want to enjoy golf tournaments, beauty pageants, music events and ofcourse the casino.
The plan comes due to a fall in the number visitors and poor infrastructure and accessible accommodation to host bigger events. Other issues are due to immigration laws by Department of Home Affairs.
The R800m improvements will include its four hotels, entertainment areas and food outlets. There will also be additional water rides added to its Valley of the Waves theme park.
Sun International is also working on a R3bn Menlyn Maine complex to be based in Tshwane, which will include an 8000-seater indoor arena, a 2000-slot machine casino, a five-star hotel and a conference centre. The project is set to be launched in 2017.
