Ultra Portable Keyboard, When Fleishman told us they were going to send us this 3 products including a keyboard, I just never thought it was foldable, because when we received them I was out of town, but soon enough, when I arrived back at the office, I saw the packages and I was looking for “this” keyboard, I thought it was going to be this bulky looking NEW Microsoft keyboard (which, don’t mind me, Microsoft makes good keyboards) but to my surprise it was, this sleek good-looking ultra thin. . and Portable / foldable keyboard, WoW! that was long. Ladies and Gents, this is it!
The “Wireless Universal Foldable Keyboard”
With some quick PriceCheck, it doesn’t come cheap.
Microsoft claims “Universal Foldable Keyboard is the perfect travel companion—its ultra-thin, lightweight, compact design lets you easily take it wherever you go so you can get more done on your tablet or smartphone no matter where you are.” Yeah, I’ll be the Judge of that, and Its True, this little beast is beastie.
For One,
You can simultaneously pair it with virtually any two mobile devices—an iPad, iPhone, Android devices, Windows tablets, and Windows Phone— and then instantly switch between them with a single touch. Set up in a second—just open it to automatically turn it on and connect.
I paired it to my Iphone, and it was Easy, you just open it, press the last button on the right side of things named “OS”, switch on your “Apple Product” go to bluetooth and search, and the products name will be shown namely as “UniversalFoldableKb”, once clicked you will be prompted to enter the pairing pin, easy enough you just enter the shown keys, “straight on the keyboard and then Enter”, then all is done, its smooth and acceptable to use on an everyday journalism stuff (for me).
But they is more,
The Keyboard is spill-resistant even though it has “real” keys. It’s a 6-row keyboard with full-size keys and bespoke control buttons for each supported platform, The keys have a slight rubbery feel and are comfortable to use for extended periods, So rapid touch typing is supported. It has volume and music controls, a lock key, Spotlight search and home button which all do what you’d expect them to on iOS.
What’s more,
The battery inside lasts for +- three months, it’s almost as if it’s powered by magic. It’s only when the Lithium-ion battery inside dies (after excessive use) that you’re reminded it’s not magic any more, and you have to go routing around for a Micro USB cable to plug it in (which is provided).
Ok lets get to the bottom Line: the Pro’s and Con’s everybody looks for in any device of choice.
PROS
Well built. Extremely slim and truly portable. Compatible with multiple mobile operating systems.
CONS
Price Tag. Oddly sized keys.
BOTTOM LINE
It’s the portability of the keyboard that really won me over. Enough to make me forget my complaints about typing on it. If I’m ever on the move, I like to travel as light as I can. Anything that can be left behind, is. The more space I can save, the better. The Universal Foldable Keyboard barely takes up any room, doesn’t weigh anything, but is always ready just in case I need to get something typed up while I’m on the go. I don’t need a bulky case attached to my iPad. This is it, my new choice.
