Online transportation network – UBER has been in Mzansi since 2013 taking over 5 cities and today they have revealed their numbers. As of February 2016, UBER says they have moved over half a million people across South Africa.
Between 2013 and 2016 , all UBER trips combined come to approximately 93 000 000 km , which they say it’s almost the exact distance to make 121 trips to the moon and back!
Furthermore they have expanded their service with adding uberXL, uberCHOPPER and uberFAMILY to the mix.
The longest Uber trip took place from Johannesburg to Durban and lasted approximately 6 hours over a distance of 580km.
In that short space of time Uber has created over 4 000 employment opportunities in South Africa.
