As from tomorrow SABC commercial radio stations will commit to prioritising more local content. This means 90% of the music played on SABC’s radio stations will be local. We know for years this has been a debatable issue especially from side of artists who have been concerned about this.
The SABC revealed that they will engage with their audience to evaluate whether they’re satisfied with these changes. This process will pave the way for the corporation to make an informed decision going forward.
The music played will include all genres, from Jazz, Kwaito, Reggae and Gospel. In addition, the SABC will play more music from legends in the industry and up-and-coming artists. Furthermore there will be more local music fillers between tv programmes from 01 July.
