Sony Music Entertainment Africa and House Afrika Records have signed an exclusive licensing agreement with DJ/ Producer – Mobi Dixon that will see the release of his much anticipated sophomore album later this year.

Hailing from East London, South Africa, Mobi Dixon has been producing music for 16 years. His debut album Tribal Soul (released October 2014) delivered multiple hits including “Love Colour Spin” and the no.1 smash “City Rains” that went on to become an anthem in S.A. and received international recognition. Mobi’s fusion of jazz, Afro soul, soft rock and African rhythm creates a unique sound he calls ‘tribal soul’, that has earned him multiple Award nominations including 4 Nominations for Best Dance Album, Remix Of The Year(2) and Record of the Year at this year’s 22nd South African Music Awards.

Spiro Damaskinos, A&R and Electronic Music Director for Sony Music Entertainment Africa said of the signing: “We are very excited to have Mobi Dixon on board, he is an excellent producer with a great vision. We believe that together we can take Mobi’s ‘tribal soul’ sound and brand to a higher level not only is South Africa but across the African continent and into the International arena.”

Mobi Dixon commented: “I am super excited to embark on this journey to the next level of my career with Sony and House Afrika. House Afrika has always been close to my heart and for over a decade has produced some of the music which has inspired me to become the producer I am today. I have recently been getting some international traction and with this relationship I believe we can grow the brand in Africa and abroad. Really looking forward to that.”

Tim White, House Afrika Records added: “We are very pleased that Mobi Dixon has chosen our label to present the next, highly anticipated chapter of his unique story because it affirms our vision of a globally credible imprint, which cherishes the established heritage of our genre while actively seeking out the exciting new styles developing in House.”
