As the debut of #CelebrityTop10 we caught with DJ Shimza to share his current favourite Top 10 tracks.
This young talented young mix Dj who has proven to be successful at whatever he does. House music producer, radio mix dj on Metro FM Oskido I Believe show, Channel O mix effect master, Director of SHIMUZIC Productions and world class performer.
He ventured into House Music as a DJ in 2003 which steered him to win the Red Square DJ Competition in 2006. This had lifted his status in the House Music scene.
DJ SHIMZA developed entrepreneurial skills whilst he was being exposed to the music industry and the business side thereof. He started with Soul Candi Music as a student and later as an employee for several months which further refined his skills hence the birth of SHIMUZIC PRODUCTIONS. He founded this entity solely as a platform for proper management of his interests and to also assist and manage other up and coming talented young people within South Africa.
DJ SHIMZA was a mix DJ on YFM YTKO, he is currently on Metro FM anchoring a show with Oskido. He is also a VJ on Channel O and has done DJing and mentoring workshops for shows like Ones and Twos on SABC 1. Last year he released his biggest project to the ‘Shimuzic’ , a well-crafted series of his work collaborating with likes of Soulstar, Dr. Malinga, Zano, Mishka and more. The was well received with singles like; Akulalwa, Looking For Love and African Woman which managed to top radio/tv charts.

What inspires your selection when it comes to music?
I just love good music and anything that will catch my attention at the first glance, not really choosy but i know what a good song is and what isn’t

Rihanna
Would you say music has a major influence on your career?
Music has a big influence in my career because thats the core of everything that I’m doing, without music the Shimza brand doesn’t exist.
If you were to put 2 local artists in a studio for a collabo who would they be?
Mishka and Dr Duda
