Singer and songwriter Tribute Birdie Mboweni knew even before she recorded her debut album that she wants to take her music internationally, and now is her time to do so.

Since the release of her debut album, the petite musician is on top of the world and is fast becoming a household name in South Africa. The gifted vocalist soothes the soul with songs like ‘MaGumede’ and “Soul n Heart” from this album and this will see her showcasing in Uganda and Tanzania in September and November 2016 respectively.

The first series of her international tour began in France this past week (6th of July to the 10th of July) where she accompanied the SA delegation to commemorate the soldiers who lost their lives during the World War 1 battle in Delville, France a 100 years ago. For the first time since their death, black service men from South Africa were being honoured.

Tribute has already serenaded audiences in Qatar and Dubai playing with a jazz band that features one of South Africa’s great jazz pianists, Sylvester Mazinyane, performed at COP17 national awareness events and the 2016 Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

The reason for the fund raising is for Tribute to be able to travel with her 5 piece band from South Africa and to be give an opportunity to showcase SA talent rather than using a band from the host country.

To raise funds for the international tour, Tribute will host a fundraising show at the end of this month and there will be a series of these:

Sept 2016 – Bayimba International Festival in Uganda
Nov 2016 – Karibu Music Festival in Bagamoyo, Tanzania
Feb 2017 – Sauti za Busara Music festival, Zanzibar

Ditsong National Museum of Cultural History will play host in association with RPM Events and Native Rhythms, her recording label. The show will feature Jobie Clarke :

Date: 29th July 2016
Time: 19:00
Place: Ditsong National Museum of Cultural History

Tickets for this event are available at the venue and pre-bookings are also encouraged at R100.You can place your order by dialing 011 447 5199 or 012 323 1220.
