The adidas Consortium x Kasina Superstar continues the Consortium Tour with Seoul’s sneaker emporium, Kasina, for a special reworking of the classic Superstar model. With each edition of the Consortium Tour adidas has offered an established retailer a footwear silhouette as a blank canvas and asked them to develop something new and unique.
Embracing age-old construction methods, their take on the Superstar incorporates traditional saddle shoe aesthetics, and the result is a premium Shell Toe made from the finest materials one can source.
Kasina had imagined a prototype for the Superstar, long before it became an iconic sneaker, and based its model on traditional shoemaking. Set in the mid-20th century, Kasina imagines the birth hour of the adidas Superstar. Their special version is inspired by that period’s aesthetic and takes cues from classic saddle shoes.
There’s vintage colour, high quality leather and narrow, understated stripes, but still the shape and the distinctive shell toe to emphasize the original design. There’s a hint of the Yeezy 350 in there too, with the black semi-circular panels on the medial side of the shoe.
The adidas Consortium x Kasina Superstar will drop exclusively at Shelflife (Joburg and Cape Town) this Saturday , 20 August 2016 for the retail price of R2099.00
