Black Coffee is gearing up for his next release which is set to be an EP. But this time around the sound of the entire project will be different from his previous releases.
The World-renowned jock/music producer has revealed that he no longer want to be known as a house music producer, but rather ‘a producer.’ On an interview with Metro FM (with Mo Flava and Lerato Kganyago) last this month, the popular jock did reveal that he will be tapping into a different sound, even if it’s a ballad type of song he will release such material.
With this Black Coffee revealed he no longer limits himself only as a DJ but a producer who wants to do work with various artists, allowing himself to explore various sounds.
And he further confirmed it on the recent interview with Billboard;
“I want to be a producer, not a house music producer,” he tells Billboard Dance. “My next album, I want to be able to have Kanye, [but] not force Kanye on a house track.”
His recent interview with The FADER approves that indeed Black Coffee is setting his music for global stage and that comes with the massive attention, international endorsements and 6 figure deals African artists have been getting:
It seems like global music is getting more and more attention — Nigerian artists are signing huge recording contracts and pop stars in the West are borrowing heavily from Jamaica and other diasporic places. What do you think that means for South African music going forward?
‘It means we need to master our craft. People are paying attention now, so we need to really spend time on the production and approach things with a global eye when we’re making music. It extends all the way to how we mix and master the songs and the final product. I see so much amazing talent, but the production…’
Into Music..
Black Coffee’s recent two singles ‘Your Eyes’ with Shekhinah and an untitled single with Monique Bingham takes us into a whole new sound. Both singles are going to form part of the EP expected to release later this month.
‘Your Eyes’ sounds very different from the expected house and groovy beats. The song presents a mellow touch, laid-back tempo and blends so fine with Shekhinah filling-in the vocals.
We do believe the EP will certainly introduce us to the new approach by Black Coffee as ‘a producer.’ We believe the project will include a number of versatile features, even though the man himself confirmed this won’t be a long track-list.
His endless international gigs and notable accolades have paved way for him to meet with various high profile artists plus new stepping stones.
Just this year alone:
He closed a collaboration with Alicia Keys on ‘In Common’ (The Remix) Ep and got to share special moments with P. Diddy , French Montana and Swizz Beatz.
He was invited to perform at the popular Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival together with Ellie Goulding, Guns N Roses, Calvin Harris, Ice Cube, Major Lazer, Zedd and more.
He won a BET Award for Best International Act: Africa category.
#SAMA22 organisers RiSA honored Black Coffee for flying the South African music flag loudly and proudly across the world.
And he was recently named ‘Best Deep House DJ’ at International DJ Awards which took place at the iconic Ibiza.
Just last month a rumor was sparked that Black Coffee is working on a new hip hop jam with Diddy and another one with Beyonce. But he later dismissed it during an interview on Metro FM (with Mo Flava and Lerato Kganyago) and on Twitter:
@RealBlackCoffee @Beyonce 😉 As we wait for the exclusive once the dream comes true!

The new EP has no release date, but the jock revealed it will be an October date. As we all know Black Coffee does not rush for any releases, so we’re still to wait for the release date then the next album after his platinum-certified 2015 album ‘Pieces of Me.’
