Ambitiouz’s very own ; A-Reece just dropped his much anticipated debut album ‘Paradise’ and it is definitely our Album of the Week.
Released this past Friday, the rapper did an instore album signing for his ready fans at MUSICA (Sandton City) and YMZ was also there to support the boy. Now this is another album to be put on the books on 2016 SA Hip Hop albums because of the major content A-Reece delivered. For entire weekend we gave the album a good listen and it’s with great pleasure to share our view.
The album sleeve/cover
Simplicity is the best, and that’s the approach when it comes to Paradise. The cover has a photo of A-Reece with the album title written in paint brush typography. The color scheme is totally dope and gives the image a clear appeal. The inner sleeve is also simplified, with folds and two sides. The inner gives production details of each track on the album plus a super cool photo of the rapper looking up. All in all the sleeve is amazing!
The music
Now into the album…Packed with 18 tracks, the list includes his previously released singles; Couldn’t , Mgani, Sebenza and Zimbali which we won’t talk much about since you got them. Major features appearing on the projects includes Emtee, P-Jay and ofcourse the sensational singer Amanda Black who did massive justice on her features + writing.
The album opens up with the title track ‘Paradise’ which is a laid back, easy beat jam produced by Tweezy. The album’s sound flow goes from mellow, soulful in the beginning , sinks into groovy trap and closes off on an easy note with ‘You Welcome’ as outro. Notable tracks on the album includes ‘Make Up Your Mind’ which is jiggy jam , followed by ‘Uber’ which goes into that R&B sound type then same applies with ‘Hamba Nami’.
We won’t talk about the previously released singles, just new material. Another massive song which I think many people will relate to is ‘Family’ which features Amanda Black. Maaaaan Amanda on this song! Nicely laid and A-Reece’s flow when he shares a heartbreaking family story completes this song. The lyrical content of this jam will make you understand where the kid comes from talking about hard times his parents shared. Now jumping into the outro; this reminds me of Riky Rick’s ‘Family Values’ outro….I don’t know why , but I think rappers has this thing of bearing it all out on that last track on their albums. On ‘You welcome’ talks about his journey, type of sound, idols, the praises from models, social media and concludes by talking about the hustle and appreciating the fans.
Production
The production includes work of Tweezy as mentioned, MashBeatz, WiziBeatz, Ruff and Lunatik. When it comes to writing A-reece himself plays a major role all 98% of the tracks with help of Amanda Black on other tracks.
Well all in all this a great album from the boy ‘as his first’, indeed he delivered from being versatile, dropping bars and putting together such a solid tracklist.
