Bringing you the list of 10 Best Music Collaborations we saw in 2016. Well we have to confess this was not an easy task again….
I mean there’s a bunch of other magnificent collabo’s that we couldn’t fit on this list and ofcoz you’re welcome to put your own sauce on this list. The list below is motivated by number 1 – popularity and secondly the pure merge of versatility. By that we mean how two or more artists came together and made a perfect sound, that magic without us thinking that they would make a iCombo eCorrect. A good example is Dj Speedsata’s Mayo where he brought all these cats together and made such a laid back super jam.
Well without wasting your time, Here is our list of Best Music Collaborations of 2016:
10. Aewon Wolf ft. Gemini Major and Khuli Chana – Walking & Dabbing

Leaders of 2016 Hip Hop – Ambitiouz came together to drop a memorable record that will stand as their signature collabo even in years to come. It’s on this same collabo we got introduced to the touch of A-reece, Saudi and Sjava.
7. Black Coffee feat. Shekhinah – Your Eyes
Released: October 2016
Talk about a massive release from Black Coffee, the single presents a totally different sound from the expected house and groovy beats. The song presents a mellow touch, laid-back tempo and blends so fine with Shekhinah filling-in the vocals. Shekhinah is no stranger to the vocal world with massive releases like Let You Know and Back To The Beach which both found her a masive fan base in the music industry. Shekhinah was part of eighth season of SA reality interactive talent show – Idols SA.
6. Bucie feat. Black Motion – Rejoice
Released: May 2016
Song-bird ; BUCIE is well known for her part in house music vocals from collaborations with Shana, Black Coffee and Heavy K. Now this year when she decided to call on the Shoshanguve boys – Black Motion things got more crazy. Both acts bring-in their signature elements on ‘Rejoice’ , making it a very solid and groovy club banger.
5. Kwesta feat. Cassper Nyovest – Ngud’
Released: Jan 2016
Ngud’ is simply a kwaito/hip hop anthem that the streets have been longing for years. Both Cassper Nyovest and Kwesta have worked together in past years, but this is their only ‘stand alone’ collabo. The single which is part Kwesta’s 2016 project paved way for the man himself who had a brilliant 2016.
4. DJ Citi Lyts feat. Sjava & Saudi – Vura
Released: August 2016
Another one…now this one of the best street anthem that ever came out of SA. A powerful release by Ambitiouz’s Dj Citi Lyts. He decided to bring on Sjava and Saudi who are very nasty and rich when it comes to the lyrical content. This follows his 2015 release of Washa, a single that paved way for him in the scene.
3. Babes Wodumo ft Mampintsha – Wololo
Released: April 2016
Yes each year we see new artists blow up on the scene, and Babes Wodumo certainly did justice to 2016. It is this very same single that made her the success she is. Now Mampintsha known from Big Nuz and Afrotainment decided to put up his own stable West Ink which he singed Babes. The single stands a massive chance of being named 2016 song of the year after topping TV/Radio charts , breaking music sales and scoring Babes countless bookings which some are even for 2017.
2. Musa feat. Robbie Malinga – Mthande
Released: April 2016
Robbie Malinga is no stranger when it comes to creating hits and anthems. And this came at no surprise when he got in studio with Musa (former Idols SA winner). Mthande is a very massive love anthem which delivers a message of true love, and encourages one to love their partner through thick and thin. The single will remain Musa’s biggest single since his start of career. And we have to give credit to Robbie Malinga for the well-orchestrated production.
1. Dj Speedsta feat. Shane Eagle, Yung Swiss, Tellaman & Frank Casino – Mayo
Released: September 2016
Coming on the no.1 spot is DJ Speedsta with Mayo. Now the reason we have this jam on number one….it’s because of the magic that happened here. The man himself proved that you don’t need to call on big industry names to put together a masterpeiece jam. Speedsta decided to bring the new cats Shane Eagle, Yung Swiss, Tellaman and Frank Casino to lay on such a laid back jam that blew up in a minute. The single managed to top radio and TV charts and still remains on a good spot on iTunes.
And that’s our Top 10 list, and like we said, there are plenty of nice collabo’s that couldn’t fit on this list. But feel free to let us know your thoughts..
