The YoMzansi Cares team together with TV personality and actor, Clement Maosa, donated stationery to students of both Moetapele Primary School in Dube, Soweto (January 25 2017) and Dr. Knak Primary School, Alexandra (27 January 2017).
Stationery including books, pens, rulers, crayons pencils and school bags was donated to the underprivileged children.
YoMzansi project manager, Thabiso Modiselle, says the initiative reaches out to as many schools as possible, as they understand that not all learners are from affording backgrounds. Modiselle adds that, the goal is to keep the project going for as long as possible in order for the children themselves to understand the importance of education.
Maosa reiterates that “in order for you to succeed, you need to study, because you can never be part of South Africa’s bright future if you don’t commit to your studies”.
The Back 2 School Drive (B2SD) is one of the initiatives by YoMzansi Cares, where the main aim is to empower underprivileged school children by providing stationery to them. The stationery is donated by various members of the public during the month of December and January and is then donated to schools (mainly township schools). YoMzansi Cares believes in playing a role in the learning environment and contributing to the nurturing of the future leaders of South Africa.
