RECAP: Episode 3: NIKE ‘Rebels on Air’ with Sho Madjozi and Dear Ribane

Celebrating Air Max month, Nike and YFM 99.2 partnered to bring you a sneaker-cultured radio show ‘Rebels on Air’.
The show brings together creatives and icons to share their journey in the culture and their undenied love for sneakers. This past Saturday (18 March) was the third episode with Sho Madjozi and Dear Ribane as the rebels. Hosted by Scoop Makhathini and DJ Entro, the show was broadcasting live from Shelflife (Rosebank). On the same day, NIKE was releasing the Nike Air Max 1 atmos Elephant at Shelflife. Sho Madjozi (formerly known as Maya the poet), a true poet, rapper, and collaborator shared her story and how her journey begun. And today she is a well-established entertainer who embraces her venda culture and the Xibelani dance. She has recently made a collaboration with Okmalumkoolkat on ‘Gqi’ song. She expressed her love for the Nike Air Max 1 atmos Elephant, especially the elephant print which makes the sneaker stands out.

Onto the creative side, the show invited Dear Ribane to share their story too. The trio emphasised how internet and social media has helped them to get their message across as creatives. And by using it correctly they managed to get international recognition and collaborations. About Nike Air Max 1 atmos Elephant, Dear Ribane defined this as a beautiful and fantastic shoe. They went on to give respect to designer Hirofumi Kojima, the designer of the sneaker for including one of the big 5 elements as part of the design.
