With so many trends in fashion, it’s easy to get your pick and follow what represents your style, either you’re a casual type, streetwear type or vintage. It’s all in the name of fashion and style. That’s why we have decided to put together a list of young and creative style enthusiasts who are doing the most and will give you alot more if you’re looking for inspiration. It’s on the table that there’s quite a number of young South Africans who are doing that. And don’t feel bad if your fav didn’t make it to the list.
Rikhado “Riky Rick” Makhado @rikyrickworld
Apart from playing a major role in African Hip Hop scene, Riky Rick is also a name to mention when it comes to fashion and style. His love for fashion comes way back from collecting Jordan sneakers to creating his own collection and getting endorsed by PUMA , Gucci and recently flirting with Kappa. After releasing his 2016 single ‘Sidlukotini’ which means ‘eating the cotton’ , Riky had to live up to the title and represent exactly that. Since then he has been introducing various insane Gucci outfits. And just a month ago he was featured on NY Times Fashion, for his appearance at Paris Fashion Week.

The tall and sexy Model is Tshepiso Ralehlathe who shares different photographs of her daily lifestyle. You will notice different campaigns she’s involved in by going through her timeline. Talk about the super-cool fashionista ‘3am Life Was Never The Same’. Didi Monsta is one fashion stylist , creative who is a trendsetter and not afraid to display any crazy-outfit. You will notice him from appearances with Boyz & Bukcz crew, Okmalumkoolkat and Riky Rick. Didi’s strong point is his fashion sense and adding his personal touch to a number of local fashion brands, including Riky Rick’s latest t-shirt range ‘Sidlukotini’.

Mkay Frash brings his creative ideas into the entertainment industry and street culture. Frash comes way back from working with Magents brand, then hooking up with uSanele and Okmalumkoolkat in his Joburg early days. Their strong bond led to the formation of Boyz N Bucks, a new school street culture empire which consists of Scoop Makhathini, Bhubesii, Phiko , uSanele, Riky Rick, Mkay and Okmalumkoolkat. A unit of rappers, producers, DJs, designers, sneaker heads and overall creative gurus.
Apart from that, he hosts an online show called ‘Hunting for Kicks’ which explores the local sneaker culture and chat with sneaker collectors.
Keneilwe Mothoa @keneilwe_mothoa and Shelley Mokoena @shelleymokoena
The duo Shelley Mokoena and Keneilwe Mothoa. The two share a very similar and funky fashion style. And this is what you will see on their Instagram timelines, and their taste in style will make you think they’re twins. They both are designers and own Prime Obsession which focus on different aspects of fashion within the design spectrum from fashion buying, designing and styling.

Laduma Ngxokolo – @laduma
Laduma Ngxokolo is one of Africa’s finest knitwear designer and innovator of the Xhosa (one of the South African dominant ethnic group) inspired knitwear brand MAXHOSA BY LADUMA.
Ngxokolo established the brand in 2011 with a desire to explore knitwear design solutions that would be suitable for the amakrwala (Xhosa initiates) traditional dress. As a person who has undergone the ritual, he felt that he needed to develop a premium knitwear range that celebrates traditional Xhosa beadwork aesthetics, using South African mohair and wool.
Since then, Ngxokolo has received numerous achievements and captures the hearts of many fashion lovers and media from South Africa, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Oslo, Berlin and New York. Ngxokolo recently won the 2015 Vogue Italia Scouting for Africa prize to showcase his collections at the Palazzo Morando Show in Milan, Italy. Laduma will also be playing a major role on F.A.M Academy (a Fashion, Art, Music project formed together with DJ Black Coffee and Nelson Makamo).
Siya Beyile – @siyabeyile
Creative Director, Stylist, Writer; Siya Beyile is one of the most recognised and best fashion creatives and that’s what you will come across on his Instagram profile. He runs a stylish blog / online premium magazine Threadedman. Through the platform, he is able to display his creative side when it comes to putting together pieces. He extends the conversation further on his radio show #TheThreadedExchange (on CliffCentral) by inviting influential guests ranging from all professions. Siya is also involved in a number of fashion shows and awards ceremonies as the fashion director.

If you’re looking for versatility in style meets photography, here it is. Apart from being Elles style reporter, Trevor travels different places in SA showcasing street fashion, different cultures, food and interior designs. Trevor recently collaborated with Italian shoe brand – Superga for a fresh collection. In 2015 he was named one of GQ’s best-dressed men.
