Our artist of the week – DJ Shony (Isaac Shony Raselabe), born in Soweto, and then grew up in Alexandra Township.
He is a house music DJ specialising in soulful and commercial house and an occasional producer of deep house music. Today he is playing in and outside Johannesburg and other parts of the country where his name continues to grow as a brand. Shony has played alongside the most recognisable names in the industry and International acts.
He was featured in Vinny Da Vinci’s exclusive annual birthday party, Soul Candi Selektor Series Jozi Edition, and Soccer Legends tribute powered by Three Ships Whiskey. Other notable events he has participated in include: Nick Holder’s international tour in 2013. And was selected as one of the performing dj at the Soul Candi Pioneers of House album launch by UPZ Avi Elman a world renowned dj.
He is the official resident Dj on the brand new local dance entertainment show on ETV, Turn Up and Dance.
Shony has recently released a new single ‘Who’s Gonna Color’ featuring Tshegofatso. The single is a hot club, festival, outdoor, indoor cheerful record/song, with a turn-up feel, it has a driving kick drum and bassline added by smooth gentle pads, all perfectly placed under Tshegofatso’s vocals which are sung in English and Setswana.
